Today received 2 volumes of the book plank on frame models from harold a underhill.
The books are dealing with the full building of planks on frame models with an example of an 19th century bark. Lots of tips and tricks in this 1960s book. As I read it I will post a more detailed review.
The books were posted by the ship model conservator of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum Ab Hoving as a must read.

You can find 2nd hand copies of these books by searching www.bookfinder.com Leon was a small brigantine, and it was those two books that started me off into serious model shipbuilding. It had no guns, no figurehead and very little fancy work, so it may not appeal to most of you, but it is a most attractive little ship.

Here's my version of the Brigantine Leone. Started building it in the the very early 1980's. Keel made fraom oak-tree (an old door treshold) and the frames from beech ice-cream sticks. At this time all sawing was made on my home built scroll saw, made after some pictures of a Hegener. Soon after this I became a father and the project was put on hold. I still got all the drawings, so you never know .....
