Yes, it is POB. Many of you may have seen POF Hayling build-log, so I just go through the common but show you something that is different. I ordered a full planking update pack from Modelship Dockyard @wuxiaomeng the friendly designer & manufacturer of this kit. The plan is to build a drama, thus, a completed hull is needed.

This is a project started at my vacation of 2023. Because I was soon back to workplace overseas, the project was on for only few months in past two years. Thanks to its Neo-design, the building experience so far was overall smooth and allows me keep the passion. Now the project carry on.

Trial assembly, I found these beams need to be adjusted. According to the designer, some parts were designed with extra length as an allowance for the modeler.

Old saying
A carpenter works long, a blacksmith works short.
(Carpenters leave extra material for trimming; blacksmiths work to exact length or shorter.)

I knew nothing about this full planking update pack from Modelship Dockyard. Does it really exist? I will be following your page anyway. Cheers, Albert

Thanks Albert. Your Hayling building log is inspiring.
Yes, I already completed all the planking with the update pack. You may PM @wuxiaomeng the genius designer of Modelship Dockyard. Smooth sailing! Jackie

By this far, it is still the parts you can find from the original kit. need extra attention when gluing the first planking into the right position. use the rail part as a reference would be a good idea.

by this far, the hull is strong enough to leave the dock.

I used ergo 5400 CA-glue for planking, save time but need extra care not to over glue.

The update pack works perfect as it can be seen. Of course, you may sand the edge a bit to creat a chamfer, which allow the plank close fit to the previous one. I was told that it is not necessary, as the gap can resemble the seam sealed with oakum and marine glue.

again, a extra length was reserved for the final planking in case modeler need adjustment. great design.

A perfect full planking was completed. await sanding.

I made a enclosed well for the rudder inside the stern myself. It should be like that but the kit did not provide relevant parts.

Inner structures and the ladder. these can hardly been seen once the deck is completed, so I just stick to the basics.

Trial with 1/48 figure, it seems the scale is just right.

Thank you so much for starting this build. I bought the kit a few weeks ago and was looking to start it at the Museum that I volunteer at.
This is the push I need so I guess I will be starting it on Tuesday.

Thanks, Tim — welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy building her. I once had the chance to volunteer at the museum’s model workshop, but I ended up sailing and helping with the maintenance of the real tall ship thereROTF. Jackie

When all the beams was in place, time to start prepare some strips for the deck.
I used hydrogen peroxide wood bleach to process these cherry wood strips.

PVC tape was used to simulate the marine glue and oakum caulking. A special thank for Ray (tireless Hull & Deck Superintendent), my shipmate, for teaching me the art of caulking and all the know-how for keeping a hull in shape.
