Polyester (PES) vs Cotton(Co) Yarns for Rigging

I use watered down PVA to stiffen running rigging lines and form it into caternary curves with my fingers. This removes waves caused by stiffness of the line by making it more stiff, but also in the proper shape. Using weights may cause unnatural sharp bends in the line, depending on how many (or rather how few) weights you use. Having proper droop on the lines makes the ship look a lot more realistic. This is especially true for tack lines and clew lines.

The tack lines, clew lines and anchor cables should be carefully shaped when stiffened to create a realistic effect.
