Question about Fore Stay and bowsprit collar rigging

I am trying to understand the way fore stay and bowsprit collar were connected (red circle). I found s few references, but they are not clear. Please advise.

Thanks for posting that drawing. Can you tell us what book this is from? I had only seen the lanyard spliced directly to the upper heart, never the collar of the lower heart. This looks far easier.
