Thanks for your interest UWE and Shota 70, I'll just have to say it again if I haven't already, I've never tried work like this before, so this will definitely be a lot of trial and error, luckily I have I have a good deal of birch material available.

For sharpening the tool, I have made plates, one with leather/sanding paste and one with water sanding paper gr 1200.
Grinding stones I have had in stock for as long as I can remember.

I do not have any experience in grinding with these grinding tools.
Appreciate if anyone can give some tips and tricks on sharpening the above tools.

Dear Knut
Gratulerer med dagen, a very Happy Birthday Birthday-Cake

Starting wood carving is difficult, but persistence will sure pay off, keep up the good work.
I am looking forward to your learning process.
In time I too will carve the figurehead and ornaments for my "7 Provincien" and I hope I can display some talent for it:).

The pattern is scanned from working drawings, the problem is that the figure head is only shown from one side.
@Dave Stevens (Lumberyard) , has given me permission to use photos he has posted here on SOS of the work of Harold Hahn.
With this starting point, I have an opportunity to make an attempt.
