RC Chinese Junk kit?

I hadn't thought about it before but the lack of responses reflects the western-centric nature of the ship model hobby. Almost all of the subjects are European and American vessels. Surely there are historical ships from elsewhere that are worth modeling.

You have to consider the audience. Asian vessels have never had a huge presence here. The Chinese Junk is probably the olderst serving type of vessel in existence, and still being used. I wonder if a Chinese ship modeling forum exists were a variety of Chinese vessels can be learned about. We have a few members fluent in Chinese. Perhaps they know.
 
Not necessarily western-centric, just not that many junk models. I have a AL Red Dragon junk kit, but have no idea if it could be used for RC.

I've built the AL Red Dragon, and my finished result is here on the forum in the finished models section. IMHO, I don't think it would be well suited for conversion to RC for more than a few reasons... but mostly available space for servo motors. I don't think setting it up for sail operation would be possible for that very reason. Scale is simply too small. I think you'd want something at least twice as large to be able to properly set up the running gear and have the required space for the servos and battery to operate it. The Red Dragon is a nice kit, and though I rigged it per the plans (which show it in a Hong Kong style sail and rigging orientation), I've seen other builds where they used the mainland variant of mounting the sails.
