Hi All
Does anybody have experience using bamboo chopsticks as masts or sailyards material by modeling.I have that kind of bamboo wood of different diameters(10 to 4mm) and I want to recycle them in this way.Do you think I will regret it later not having used normal wood instead ?
Thanks in advance for your responds . ‍☠️

Thanks for your respond and your kind blessings.I allready have used bamboo for oars too. Usage as a pva spreader is new to me and it is nice idea and I will try it also, perhaps also as paint stirrer too.Metal ones rub too heavily the inside of the paint box. Thanks again and stay healthy.Kind regards this time from Kalipoli - Dardanelles instead of from Bosphorus . (escape from Istanbul to the small village for summertime.:)

Since one of my sons owns a Korean BBQ, I have access to an unlimited supply. I've used them as utility items as described in other posts, as spars (on the
Rattlesnake), and as sandpaper blocks for tiny spaces, with the sandpaper glued or taped to the square end of the chopstick. They are quite good for applying basic woodworking glue (Elmer's, Gorilla, etc.), particularly since the end with old glue stuck to it can be just cut away to create a clean applicator.
As spars on the Rattlesnake, they were better than straight dowels that I would have had to taper. They already were tapered and appropriate size sections could be cut from them.

Hi Socalveteran
I also use the small diameter bamboo skews for sidely extension of the tapered edges of the sailyards drilling from both sides andfitting and glueing it into the hole.It is also very rigid and offers more glueing area compared to a wire for repaing short masts or added pieces onto a mast parts just making a hidden joint inside the corresponding parts to be fitted.
Oh boy my english is not as fluent as my german so it took me some time to understand that you didn’t mean the real rattle snake that you shoot with bamboo sticks but you mean the warship Rattlesnake.that is the lighter side of life otherwise woud be boring
Stay healthy and Kind Regards
