Welcome to you all from old Blighty...
6 months in on Victory models HMS Fly, really enjoying it, have only threatened to throw it out the window a couple of times.
Have previously made HMS President and HMS Bellona in a natural state with no paint.
This time with Fly I am going the full Monty and painting as I go.
The previous build logs have been a great help and have got me out of a hole a couple of times as the drawings leave a little to be desired.
Still can not make up my mind whether or not to paint the bottom of the hull white but I shall think on.
Pressing on....
Regards,
Graham.

Greetings from the Finger Lakes of New York Graham!

Since we now have two pugwash's, I felt there must be some origin of the name, so I did a little research. Well, let me tell you, that was an interesting and eye-opening web dive! Redface I'm going with the cartoon character of the '50s and leaving it at that. ROTF Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the group. I am still several years from retirement, but every spear moment I have I put into my kits. This is one the best hobbies.

20230503_121137.jpgPugwash. Have you considered compering the hull rather than painting it. These are Caldercrafts tiles but Amanti also do them as a Fly upgrade kit.

You might like to know that the chap who designed the kit for HMS Fly is one of our members - The Society of Model Shipwrights UK. He is responsible for the Victory range and now has his own firm: Vanguard Models. These are outstanding kits with, in many cases, a high degree of under fo'csla and quaterdeck detailing, and some including under weather deck detail. If you want to make contact with us try:<modelshipwrights.org>.

Welcome Pugwash! I recall that cartoon as a kid in Blighty. Happily retired in Texas now I finished a Victory a couple of years back. I could build a house with all the money I spent on Victory reference books!
Have fun!
