I had a seamstress sew a copy of the sail from the kit provided vacuum sail, she did exactly what I asked and made a copy, I didn’t realize at the time the sail was made as if it was under stress and the lines are bowed, I’m going to have to make another set with the cross hatch pattern simply squared and simple sail with straight lines (vertical), I think both were used on the boats.

Looking at the photo of the cloth sail, we have to wonder whether it looks better than the vacuum-formed sail, which we haven't seen. Here we run into the frequent modeling issue of scale appearance of materials, in this case textiles and thread. Yes, sails for these vessels were made of textiles (wool or hemp) but that doesn't necessarily mean that one can make realistic looking sails at scale with textiles. Some modelers have good results with silkspan tissue, a non-woven material. Fair winds!
