RMS Titanic - Trumpeter 1/200

I've seen all the videos, but unfortunately I hosed the parts up... I'll re-attempt though. Still working on the inner decks, easy primer into the PE work needed later.

Lovely work by yourself too Big Jake! You should start the 1/200 kit!

I've worked on A deck structures, and putting in windows, there were 44 of one size... that's a lot of fiddling, but still lits of fidling left to accomplish!

I'll add photos later!

Need more medium CA...

Anyway, the white glue (using Mod Podge gloss), works a charm so far. Easier clean up, and does wonders in sticking small pieces of PE to plastic.

A deck structures:

One door missing, the handrails are a bitch to get/keep straight... Thankfully this will be behind a bullwark on A deck, 1 deck below the boat deck.

Some of these windows have the "stained glass" from the KA set... Micro cutting with very fine scissors on slippery plastic... NOT easy, but whatever! Looks really cool

The most time consuming part of any, is cutting the PE from the fret, cutting the nubs, then filing the nubs... There are 44 of the smallest windows on the longest structure shown... So there are TONS of windows. But, I think this is an excellent primer to more advanced warships, because even though there is a dearth of PE parts, most are easy subassemblies requiring a single fold, if any. Or a gentle curve. So there are thousands of parts, but they're relatively easy to affix!

I'll probably eat those words later.

Cheers

If you are installing the scale decks, make sure your doors are not too low on the superstructure. I had to take all my doors off and start again.

Hey Winnie,

Looking good mate. That's a lot of work. I need to get back to mine full time again; it's been too long. Would love a closer shot of the stained glass windows. The KA inserts seem to stand out quite well.

Cheers,
Steve

Hello Winnie,
great progress sir. I’m glad to see you didn’t rely on the self adhesive decking by itself. The white carpenters wood glue will ensure a proper bond.
I also noticed they are selling a Titanic engine room kit in 1/200 scale on eBay. There’s so many great aftermarket options for this model.

Hey Brian,

I read up on that kit, and it's made to complement the Trumpy Titanic. You can apparently display them alongside each other and get an amazing insight to the inner workings of the beast. :-) Fathers Day gift? Meh, probably not. A bit beyond my kids savings accounts.

I wonder whether someone could potentially do a cut away of the ships hull on one side, and install this engine room inside the actual model. Kind of like a cross section model.

Oh my, Brian. That sounds like a challenge. :) In theory, it should be possible, as they are both the exact same scale. What a display piece that would mate.

Wow this is outstanding work.
Words can't really express the level of detail and devotion one has put into this model.
