Royal Caroline Box wood edition 1/30 scale modified to fit carvings, build by neptune,

Quite a difference in lenght of the hull John if you see them next to each other.
Regarding repositioning the top wales and frieses it gives the model a much better appearence.

Thank you Maarten, hopefully mine will look as good as yours, I won't be double planking the hull like you did, just painting it off white, and I'm going to leave the carvings as Box Wood with the clear Beeswax finish, thanks for all your help with the info and the help of your build logs,

Best regards John,

If you have not yet installed the gratings, something to consider: Cut the gratings as close to the size indicated on your drawings BEFORE you make the head ledges and coamings in which the gratings sit. Then make the head ledges and coamings to fit the grating, not the other way around. The battens should run fore and aft and there should not be any openings in the gratings next to the head ledges or coamings. Pictures and a 1000 words, &c. follow.

Thank you Allan, I haven't done the fancy corners but I have got the battens the right way around and also a little bit of round up on them,

looks a very nice finish on the paint work. My build of the Royal Caroline is months behind yours so its allowing me to get tips on my next build step by following yours which is helping me greatly. Keep up the great work following closely.

decided to have a break from the Royal William and do a bit more to the Royal Caroline, I decided for quickness to use the planks supplied in the kit, will give it a good sanding when its fully dried,

I stuffed up getting the frames off of the mould for the ships boat, so I decided to make another out of a block of Jelutong

I marked up the block with the lines that I wanted tocut out,

For me this is a very unique approach. I can't wait to see how it will all turn out!

great job on fixing up the manufacturers mistakes. i ordered this kit in 1:48 a few years ago and found it to be complete garbage. most of the parts they sent were for the larger version so none of the resin pieces fit, the keel was warped and the plywood de-laminated from some parts.
i ended up throwing it in the garbage and taking an expensive lesson to never purchase from zhl ever again. i am glad this kit is working for you even though you have to do so much repair work. looks like it will turn out great.
