also from my side a warm welcome here on board - Thanks for starting this building log

I been working on the stove and stair way and the center grate

I have question that some may help me with
the next step is to put the gun port frame in
and taper the keel

be fore I start the second planking should I plank the hull first before adding the false keel and stem post

The first and Second Gun deck I install the support gun block in before I did first planking
and I glue the second gun deck .
my fix was to remove the gun support I had to cut hole in the second gun deck to get to the first gun deck
after I get the first gum deck support install correctly the I cover the hole
i did a hack job but by Monday i have it fix

I know maybe it's a little early to ask but looking at all the metal castings in the kit .... are they toxic to handle or file ?
Regards Al
Looks great so far !!!

Hi Al
That a good question I'm not sure if the dust or filing are toxic
I leave the window open and where a dust mask and vacuum running

I finish the first planking. installed the gun frame add some blood red around frame
installed the main gun deck with planking and grate
I have started the second planking on one side up to 1st gun deck
the rest of the window I will cut out and add white glue
as seen in the first pic green tape well when I had the ship upside down doing the second planking
I broke a few cross beam so I added the tape holder temp fixrw20.jpgrw23.jpgrw22.jpgrw21.jpg

should have done by next week the rear end I still have to cut out gun port
i.m thinking of buying metal gun port

Hi calt,

I would skip the metal lids and replace the with wooden ones.
I the kits also the gun port frames is on the outside of the hull whereas the original contruction it is mostly part of the frames and the gun port lid is equal to the outside planking resulting in a flush surface when the lids are closed. Hope it helps.
