Sailing Pram bow

Hello All,
For those who are building of have built the Norwegian sailing pram ( 2nd level kit in the series ) could you please tell me if all the facets on the bow transom are sanded to the same angle as the bottom portion where the bow knee is used as a bevel guide ?

I am asking because, the guide lines on the transom have a different edge distance for each set of facets. If I sand them correctly (unlikely) wouldnt this result in a different bevel angle for each pair of facets.

Hello Krul! I am not exactly sure of your question, but will attempt to assist. I'm assuming that your term "facets" refers to the individual pieces of wood that make up the entire stern transom piece. I built my Norwegian Sailing Pram in early 2021. I did not retain a copy of the build log that I was posting on MSW (and then lost that file earlier this year with their crash) but I do still have the pictures that I took of the build. My recollection is that those pieces were all at the same angle. Here are a few pictures of my build at that point. Hope they assist at some level. Have fun!

I interpret your question to be about the bevels (angles) at the transom where the planks land. Each bevel will be a little bit different. The way to cut a bevel is to temporarily position the respective plank and check the fit against the transom. Trim the transom a little at a time until you get a snug fit. It's often easier to use a temporary batten (a stick narrower than the plank) for this operation as you can see more of the transom.

Thank you for the reply, the bow transom is the one in question. Being new at this and having practiced making unusable dust on one piece I would like to have the second piece usable.

So,,, do not sand as the instructions. But place the bow transom in the build board and sand each " angle, bevel, facet " to its respective plank angle ?

Sorry, I don't know what the instructions say. Sanding is an acceptable way of beveling but care is needed to avoid rounding the area. In any case the goal is to have the plank lay smoothly on the bevel. Fair winds!
