Sails for model expo Uss constitution bought sails from them and they don’t seem to small. Has any one have this problem or is it just me.

I might be wrong here and that is ok. I think there is a little confusion with the sails installed on the main yards as opposed to the sails installed on the studding sails.

The studding Sails have there own sails. The Constitution kit did not come (as far as I know as I am building it) did not come with any reference to add any studding sails. Also, Sails are NOT going to extend all the way out to the end of the yard, but have some clearance at the ends. Even the studding sails are not going to extend all the way out to the end of the studding yard.

No kit is going to have "fabric" or material that is going to be scale like. You really would need to go to a fabric store to find a very thin fabric that when furled or non-fureled will look real. Also, you want to add sails ? do you want your sails to look like they are capturing wind or the sails relaxed like at dock.

Opting for the most realistic outcome takes a lot of experimenting.

This image is ONLY for historical and educational use.

If I had to make a guess, it looks like some sails end at least perhaps 6 feet before the end of the yard(s). The yard ends have to be clear of rigging sheets, and blocks, etc.

When you stained the sails in tea did you use cold tea or boil them? And were they dried with heat? I ask because I’m wondering whether they shrank.
