Planking continued:
The Forecastle deck (right nautical term??) planking was a little tricky. My effort didn't come out as good as Pavel's. My spacing of the planks on Starboard side was off and I had to insert a "sleeper". The final result passes the "four foot" rule.

Forecastle and Rails progress.
This week I've spent several hours a day in the shipyard avoiding the 90 plus outside temperature.
With the decking completed the various rails needed to be installed.
My results may not be Historically correct or follow the kit's instructions, but I like what I've done.

Forecastle update:
My previous Forecastle planking problem made adding the interior railing a wee bit of a challenge.
The indentations on rails supplied in the kit (blue arrows) don't fit snug against the posts without modification.
But with a little bit of re-engineering the problem is history.
Off to see what else I can muddle up.

I'm just a little bit ahead of you. Ik finished the decks and railings. Working now on the Apostles on the outside of the hull.

Hi Jan - I'm not sure if I had seen this build log previously! You have done well so far on this Santa Maria! I finished my Pavel Nikitin Santa Maria about a year ago and experienced many of the issues you have run into with your build. You appear to be handling those hurdles well. I will keep an eye on your remaining work!
