Santa Maria 1:48 - Ships of Pavel Nikitin by Pathfinder65

The Stern decoration.

When I looked at other Santa Maria builds, the kit's plans and Pavel's webpage, I noticed builders either butted these pieces together or overlapped them.

When I centerd my Stern piece and tried to cover the window openings there was not enough edge left to butt the pieces. I sanded the center piece edges even with the hull and then added the side pieces.

Another small step done.

Yuk, still not up to parr. Flu, Covid shot and seasonal allergies are intefering with my lifestyle.

Working on the small pieces that take time to complete.

The plan:

I looked at the parts,, removed the jig parts from the flats and assembeld it.

The next step was to add the small parts to the jig.

IMG_5490.jpeg

That was a a challenge for a guy with iffy eyesight and clumsy fingers. I added a piece
of tape hold the first piece in place, then added a small line of glue to the top of each piece as I worked my way up the jig.

It was a slow process, after placing a piece I waited twenty minutes before adding the
next one.

There are two more pieces that I have to add but I 'm going to the build work in the Forecastle area first
before I do that.

:( Ugh, my ISP did a system wide upgrade last week and after a week of repair calls, replacing our cable modem and WiFi Router I can use my PC instead of my cell phone to log on to Forum.

The final coat of stain applied to the hull.

I've also assembled some of the small parts as shown on the plan.

The rudder port (don't know the nautical term) was a bit tricky. The pieces were hard to remove from the flat, the Laser had not punched all way through the flat. I used multiple strokes with a #11 blade to cut the pieces out.
