Hallo Peter,
This is very interesting drawing showing the slipping devices used in the 19th century for a ship of this size of a frigate.
We can imagine, how many ships had before problems and even accidents, that they could improve the techniques in such a way. For the Santa Maria which was much smaller and 350 years earlier I am pretty sure, that the dock yard was much more simple. Many thanks for sharing.

Yep,that slip way ehat Peter showe would make a nice diorama for a ship that era.

Good for smoking meat and fish.

Just had a look at Google images, search terms: 15th century shipyard blacksmith. Not much on the blacksmith, but heaps on what the workers used and did to build a ship.
