Santa Maria1:48 (Pavel Nikitin)

I kept thinking for a few days that I wanted to move the crowsnest down. I even took one side of the backstay apart. Taking all the shrouds apart would have been a mess. Plus I don't have enought of Pavel's heavy dark brown rope incase the shroud lines are damaged from glue. The crowsnest in slightly over 1 inch too high. I also had thought to sand a couple small semi-circles in the wide wood rail on the crowsnest where the backstays touch. Then thought I may just make things worse. I decided to leave everything as is. I'll try to be more precise going forward.

I put the ratlines on. The kit shrouds are a very thick rope. I've seen some rigging which use the same thickness for the ratlines as the shrouds. This doesn't look good to me. And I've seen tan/almost white ratlines. Again, just doesn't look good to me. I tried .5mm rope. This looked good. I have some .45mm dark brown rope that I bought for some reason and never used. So I used this for the ratlines.

Oh! Some good news. I ordered another Pavel's San Bartolome in Nov '25. I gave away the one I had a few years ago when I was thinking of stop modeling. Anyway, Denis just shipped the kit along with some more dye paint sets. They have been dealing with power outages due to the war and were quite a bit behind (I think). I'm guesssing the kit will arrive in the next 4-6 weeks (maybe sooner??). This should give me plenty of time to finish the Santa Maria. Wonder if I will have to pay a terrible Trump tarrif tax? That could be quite a bit as the kit, salls, other extras, and shipping was about $1000.

The ratlines look scale, and quite tidy.
