well...i thought i'd give this model a chance, as i had some fun ideas about what i would do with it.....basically, i want to fill it with contemporary figures....women hanging out their laundry....kids flying kites....couple sitting for dinner.... dancing....and whatever else i can think of......but if anyone is interested in building this, there are some issues....
.....i cut my own wood to plank the lower hull, if i didn't, i wouldn't have had enough wood to complete the model as presented...i used some of them to build up the fenders instead of the grooved timbers....
......there is quite a number of various kinds of wood....some of the walnut had such a variety of colors which is why i cut my own...sorting the various woods is somewhat difficult which is probably the best thing to do first....instructions are somewhat vague, but a good effort was made for clarity.....one would have to do a lot of reading, which i don't because of my weak eyesight......
....i found so far that this was a very difficult kit to build because of all the strange angles...have to check 10 times before cutting or gluing...which, of course i didn't do haw haw.......many angles are not quite as correct as i'd like them.....
....i decided to keep the stern galleries straight at the bottom where they are flared out....cause the original didn't make sense
....all the upper structures are just placed there for now....still have much work to do on everything, put it together at this stage so i can thing about things for awhile...still experimenting with fabric roofs.....
.....anyways, will add things if i find more issues.....but basically it's a fun build and i'm enjoying the challenge
