Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I saw in one book the following waterway layout:

There are similar schemes in other sources about this period (England, about 1660-1670):

That is, the waterway is laid on top of the deck boards.

So, what I want to ask is: where exactly and how exactly were scuppers installed with such a scheme?

Hallo
it depends very much which period you are looking for
BTW: The waterway was often not only laying on top of the deck planking, but often was a special formed (thicker Than the normal ones) plank
In the NMM you can find several contemporary drawings and models of scuppers

Maybe these examples are too "modern" - these scruppers were before often directly going through the waterway (like marked with red)

Thanks Uwek!
Actually I'm trying to start building a model of «The Nonsuch» (built as an armed merchant in 1650 and rebuilt as an ocean-expedition ship in 1668), but I do not want to absolutely re-copy the remake with all its modern anachronisms and fibs. I found some options for a waterway of a similar design for the 17th century:

How is your work on your Nonsuch going? Maybe you could show us your model - would be very interesting

I am not very knowledgeable about the big multi deck warships, but many smaller single deck ships just has slots cut in side of hull at deck height to drain water back out.

Very enlightening, with very broad application. Thanks,
