Attempting to shape the brass bracelets on the foremast and main mast on the 1805 Swift. As from the picture, I am having difficulties in getting a clean curve when shaping the brass strips. They want to crease as I bend them. Any thoughts?

You can anneal the brass making it softer. Heat it till it is red and let it cool at room temperature. Second solution is using thinner brass strips.
Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure if heating it would discolor the brass. I'll give it a try.

In my opinion they should be blackened anyhow
