I agree if the blocks are to be externally stropped, but once the metal internal stropping came about later in the 19th century, these block assemblies from Syren do work really well. They are a bit of a pain and need a good tumble in my block tumbler once assembled, but they do look good. I have made these on my own, but found that because the store-bought laser cut parts are all identical it a plus in that respect. On the other hand, the sizes available are limited as in most cases with blocks so home-made comes into play at times.Might have been me but I dont think it is a good way to prepare blocks.
look for serikoffs upgraded rigging plan for the alert. It shows alot of single lines, looped and tied. In fact reading serikoffs plan, there are ONLY 2 sets of normal paired sets..OK, in review of plans on rigging for shrouds, they show each shroud line as a separate line, looped and tied at top, instead of normal shroud lines which come off as pair to each side.
For an English ship of the 1776 time period, would this single line shroud be correct?
