Trying to assemble the foremast gaff on the La Toulonnaise from AL and have some issues in interpreting the diagram (see attached) There are 2 single blocks (#73) attached by thread (#165). The picture shows one single thread looped around the gaff and attached to both blocks. I would assume there would be 2 threads looped around the gaff. Is the picture correct and if so how would it be assembled ?

My thoughts .... lay two threads with a block on the end side by side and do 2 whippings leaving a hole in the middle. Put the hole over the mast and slide the whippings tight to the mast. Adjust the placement before gluing. Trim excess.

If your referring to the top left corner the blocks out on the end one tight to the boom one extended away ? If so zoom in on the picture you will see one block is tied with a thinner line thats the one tight to the boom it has no line size directed to it the long one does and its tied with a heavier line

I tried your suggestion on a test mast and it came out ok. The challenge was trying to ensure the hole was equadistant
