Hello all

Well, I don't know where to start because the subject is quite complex and some things are not what they seem at first glance. Perhaps with unpleasantness.
This is the same story as with Sovergein of the Seas, no big company wants to do it because the cost is too high. I had a glimmer of hope when new Occre's Belle Poule and AL Soleil Royal were released, that there will be new models that require little bashing and cover unique ships, not just variations of Victory, Santinisima Trinidad etc, but I guess it always comes down to having Victory in your stash. Mabye if HMS Implacable / Duguay-Trouin 1800 wasn't blown to pieces we would have a alternative irreplaceable ship.

Freelancers will most likely not respond, some will agree to do small parts and then be silent. Those who are able and willing will want the price of a mid-priced kit for only a few flowers. So unless you have a brand new car to trade in, SR is out of the question.
The funny thing is - I'm so grateful for all their rejections it forced me to work on my skills and showed me a way I would never consider in my life.

Soo this is the most complex part of SR's decoration. I don't know how much it will take to make the rest, but in this relief are all the skills which are necessary to create the rest of the ornaments.
-Rigging(figurines with bones)
-Hair making
-Sculpting
-Solidyfing curves
-Cloth making

I didn't create the human, it's part of the free Human Base Meshes Bundle uploded by Blender. I found some figures that after some modyfication can be applied to stern, but they're about 75% of 100% compatibility with orginal sculptures. I was going to add them, but after making Apollo they will also be scratch designed.

General thoughts and direction of this project
I don't want to build a whole ship, the stern cross section is possible but not certain. Certainly I'll try to fit it into the unfinished hull I bought some time ago, because without some unique accessories it's unsaleable and a candidate to be chopped up and put in the fireplace.

I could build an entire ship if someone wanted to commission one.
And finally, for those who want to see the real thing. Scale 1/48 and 1/72. The 3D prints are so accurate that even the smallest hanging hair is visible in the 1/72 variant:D

Będzie ciekawiej jak będzie jeszcze więcej figurek:)

It will be more interesting when there are even more figures:)

What software do you use? I am trying to learn how to do this but am not getting anywhere at all. I apparently have a good 3d printer but no resource, books, software, human...to learn from. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

I only use Blender. Youtube is full of tutorials for Blender. Just search for ones that cover the basics and it will probably clear up.

I'm just beginning to use Blender also, being forced by necessity to make all the decorations for HMS Sovereign of the Seas, like WojotasS mentioned. It has a very steep learning curve because of the complexity. Each 3D object I make froces me to learn and use new functions. The availability of decorations for classic wooden warships is still in its infancy.

Czy szaleństwo to nie wiem. Na pewno jest to dość skomplikowane i czasochłonne, ale chyba na tym polega to hobby:)

Whether it's crazy I don't know. It's certainly quite complicated and time-consuming, but I guess that's what the hobby is about:)

This is, of course, fascinating to me Wojtass. The printed ornaments look quite good, although the clouds beneath Apollo and his quadriga look a little 2-dimensional.

What is the overall ornamental scheme you are trying to achieve - 1689 or 2nd SR of 1693?

Ahoy!

Wojtas gratuluje. Widze rosnie nam konkurencja

Wojtek congratulates. I see we have competition.

I don't know if you've seen Santa's gift for You. Test in progress.
What a great job, I'm learning, it's a great model and I want to do all the decoration of this great ship. I do it in parts because my computer doesn't have enough hardware for design. If I do it with many faces it starts to block.

They are three-dimensional. The ones under his feet are at their highest point. To see the edges of each cloud, you have to lower the nearest one.
I'm aiming for Tanneron's look.I know making any other SR would be much more interesting, I just like the overall look of the ship, although it's not historically accurate and I don't have enough time to make other variants(at least now:))

To rodzaj artystycznego szaleństwa. Jednym się udaje żyć ze sztuki a o drugich się nigdy nie słyszy

It's a kind of artistic madness. Some people manage to live off art and others are never heard of.

You guys are inspiring me to really apply myself to learning blender. Trouble is, my eyes glaze over before we’ve even gone beyond a cube or polygon. I’m sure that one I’ve got the hang of the basics I’ll be fine but it seems very complex from the outside.
