Hi Folks, I have just finished my second ever model, the first being the Polaris by Occre. That ship taught me a lot with many mistakes and a few bits rebuild in the process. But thanks to a lot of help from many of you I completed it and decided to build The Sopwith Camel which looked to be beyond my skill level, but if you don’t try you wont succeed, I followed Kens build on here, which helped.
It was definitely a challenge as its a fragile aircraft and requires lots of patience and use of tweezers, the instructions were challenging at times and there were a few missing parts to which Artesania Latina have a good system for replacing. What also fooled me was that there are quite a few spare parts, presumably if you break or lose some. But I thought I had missed installing them and it took me some time to figure out that they were spares. Unlike Occre who supplied exactly everything I needed.
Anyway four months after starting I have finished and have attached a few pics.
I am going to build Occre’s Black Swan next, back to ship building.

She looks great, well done on the aircraft, an outstand airship!

I have always wanted to build one of these fine detailed kits, but then add the exterior fabric to half the model, to show how they looked in real use.

Between you and Dean, I may have to get one of they come on sale again at ME.

Hey Denis,

The Camel turned out really beautifully. These models from AL are really, really beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing you build the Black Swan. I'm in the process of building it right now. Unfortunately, I don't have much time. That's why I can only work on it a little at a time. You are welcome to have a look at my build report. I'm rebuilding it completely. It will be the Athena. The kit is not such a hit. I'm a bit surprised that almost nothing fits properly. But you should make your own experiences.

Best regards

Günther Ship-1

I think I saw where Donnie built this model a while back, but unable to find it quickly. I purchased the MA Curtiss Jenny and just finished the rib stiffening. So now, I am going to start the wing rib jig and the next steps. I would love to see some pictures of these steps in yours and Donnie's build.

That’s easy, if you log on to this site you can follow the build from start to finish including the wing jig that you want to see ;-

Plus here are a few of my pics from my build showing the wing jig. The top wing is flat construction and does not require a jig but the bottom wing does have dihedral ie. it is swept upwards. The wing jig is actually fixed to the main body jig.
