If you have reached that point of frustration, perhaps it may be time to consider a fully scratch-built effort.
All SOTS kits are more or less flawed, although as was posted on the forum, elsewhere, this one German builder has done one of the most incredible kit modifications that I have ever seen:
With the lone exception of the hard bend into a round-tuck, that also sort of approximates a square tuck stern (4” thick oak plank just isn’t going to make hard bends like that), this model of the Sovereign really looks like a ship of the period.
So, good things are possible with kits, but you have to weigh the titanic effort of reverse-engineering against what it might take to start from a better place, from scratch.

Each to their own but if you are comfortable with it ,scratch build.All offerings are flawed in some way or another.
If you must start from a kit, vintage Sergal is the way to go IMHO.Much better quality castings than the current one but the instructions are next to none existent.

I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that they are all flawed...
Take a flawed kit for the basics then kit bash to make the corrections. In between straight kit vs. full scratch build.
I agree with both bashing a kit and scratch building to get things as close as possible to your liking
