Sovereign of the Seas - Mantua by Brian

not sure how old my kit is but all the metal pieces are solid bronze, (had to file some burrs off) whereas I have seen online white metal pieces in the newer kits. is this correct?

Ok guys I value your input so here goes do I leave the bronze/brass pieces as is, or I have some nice gold leaf form a previous project ? But.......there are over 600 pieces

Now you come to an interesting part of the kit! You will find, as have many others, that the pieces are too large and need considerable filing/grinding in order to get a fit. So, my suggestion would be to use gold paint after you have got them to fit. If your kit is very old the metal parts may be solid bronze but if it is newer they are plated and very poorly moulded for such an expensive kit. It's certainly a challenge.

The quality of my kit is far above the one pictured (right) and they a definitely not white metal plated :)

You might have gotten lucky - from all of the current Sergal's of this ship that I have followed on MSW and here - I still see a very big difference in the tooling details and lack of quality of castings in each of those 600+ bits - I'll drop this thread - but here are a couple more examples of the quality differences.
