Did a good amount this morning and happy so far, the black stain will need a few coats but that's no problem as it seems to go a long way then on to the second gun deck.

So this mornings work! cut out the lower gun ports and attached the gun port cover and after doing a couple of second planks and seeing the poor quality I have decided to do a third planking with some walnut 0.5 x 5mm planks that I already have to give her a better overall finish, more work but should be worth it

I note from your original photos of the kit as received that a Union Flag/Jack is included which is of an anachronistic pattern, being the U.K. model that came into use only on 1st January 1801. Just to warn you before you get to use it!

Yes, more like that, without the diagonal red St Patrick's Saltire, which was added to the Union Flag only at the union of the kingdom of Ireland with that of Great Britain on 1st January 1801. There may be various formats differing through history, a 3:5 ratio being perhaps typical, though today's modern ratio is 1:2.

When I wanted a historical flag, an 18th century pattern red ensign for a 1:48 scale frigate, I got a good one from the company BECC in the UK. They seem to be still active, and offer several types through other companies, including eBay, though perhaps not as many as they used to. - Base size: 100cm x 25cm
Base size of 100cm × 25cm (holds keels up to 100cm).

Their data seem odd.

Could you measure it for me - looks to be much larger
