Good day,
Dear 3rdJerseyman,
thank You very much for attention to my model and kind comments.
Indeed , this period ,of explorations and colonization pursued by Spain and Portugal is very interesting !
While assembling this model , during all these years :))) I've collected а big library of mostly digital books devoted to spanish shipbuilding of the 16-17 century.
And of couse all this information has very tight connection with history of colonization ...

I highly recommend Fernandez-Armesto's "Pathfinders." Also "The Tragic History of the Sea 1589-1622" Boxer- the Haklyut Society.
The courage of the discoverers is almost unbelievable. Voyaging by unknown paths across uncharted seas to unknown shores with no hope of help or rescue in the event of disaster. I think we must remember that these men were in a real sense more medieval than anything else. Many of the captains were motivated by a desire to ennoble their families through notable service. Knights of the sea with their ships their gallant steeds.

Enjoy your summer! Studying the men who built and sailed these ships is great fun. If you haven't read about it before, Google "The Pepper Wreck." A great exercise in modern underwater archeology and reconstruction.

Oh Yes!
This is great research work I know , have it in digital ! Thanks ! :)
I know that one of our colleague still busy with his own reconstruction of Spanish\or Portuguese galleon of 16th century...
I could say, by my opinion, this would be one the best and closest to contemporaneous images Spanish galleon reconstruction /model\or kit for the model building, when he will complete his job! :)
if You didn't see before, there is the link

unfortunately this IMAI kit of Spanish galleon ( based on old V. Lusci reconstruction )which I assembled , is too far from any historic and technical accuracy :(

Good day,
Dear Juan,
hanks for your attention and kind comments... I think You are right about flags and bunners...they are fall out of whole picture due to too fresh appearance if I understood You correctly... I could reach my model in fall, and than will make ness-ry correction in color ... will make them more aged ,pale and stained///
Thanks again!

Good morning Kirill.
First of all, congratulations for the wonderful job you have done with this galleon, it is trully amazing.
Let me put here the link to Academia.edu where Mr. Cayetano Hormaechea has published several books regarding Spanish Galleons and many other stuff. It is fully accurate and free to download. Unfortunately it is only in Spanish.
Anyway it could help.

Good day Jaime,
Thank You very much for your attention to my built and kind comments, I 'm glad if You found it interesting.
I would like to thank You for the link to Academia.edu ! I have some works from them but didn't know about works of Mr. Cayetano Hormaechea !
Thank You very much!
I will check them and download ...it will be nice addition to my collection of books devoted to 16-17 century galleons ...
Wish You all the Best!!!

This is such a beautiful work of art!
I am new to this hobby, starting with a beginner kit, "Polaris".
Your ship is such an incredible motivation. I can hardly wait to gain the skills to start a ship like yours.
Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely MAGNIFICENT! A most fine galleon! The color and detail are amazing. The double lateen sail on the mizzen is quite unique. I have not seen that sail arrangement before. It looks great!

Dear Robert and Kurt,
Thank you very much for attention and kind comments!
I'm glad that you found motivation and something interesting for you in this built.
I wish all of you all the Best!!!
Kirill

I ve made it a little bit wrong with this upper latin sail... yard and sail are out of correct scale... but in principal, it was interesting to find information and to show them rigged... thanks to briliant Peter Kirsch book "The Galleon"!!! :)))

What a fantastic piece of work, now I know I have a long way to go. Thank you for sharing your work, now I need to look at the build log, do you have a link to it please?
