Spanish question

The model I’m building has a part named galleta de mastile. In my Spanish this means mast cracker or mast cookie. I’m sure there is a nautical meaning for this but I’m unable to find it. Thanks, Bob

It should be "galleta de mástil" and it is like a cap placed on the top of a mast.

I also think it is a top that is placed at the end of the mast.
Instead of a cookie it should be called a meatball.

Galleta (in Italian galletta) derived from the French Galet a sort of bisquit bread of flat rounded shape eaten in military use. This is a round flat wood cap positioned on top of masts to prevent water infiltration. In Italian sea language it's called "formaggetta" because it has the cheese form shape.

Is this item on the top of the uppermost mast section, or top of one of the lower mast portions.

In many ships lower mast sections had a Mast Cap, which could be half mood shaped and often had ropes holding it down or it was used to support ropes holding weight from below.
