Has anyone have the standing rigging line sizes for the ZHL 1/70 scale La Soleil Royal I was thinking about purchasing a better quality line from Dry Dock

If you write the diameter of the mainmast near the deck, I can calculate for you

I counted.
Masts:
Fock stay - 1.6 mm (lanyards - 0.5 mm)
Guys - 0.8 mm (lanyards - 0.4 mm)
Mainstay - 2 mm (turnbuckles - 0.6 mm)
Guys - 1.0 mm (lanyards - 0.5 mm)
Mizzen stay - 0.8 mm (turnbuckles - 0.4 mm)
Guys - 0.5 mm (turnbuckles - 0.3 mm)

So far, this is only on the lower tier at the level of the masts. You can try to calculate and print it yourself. I sent you the link. If it doesn't work, please contact us.

Hi Bandido,
Radimir Beseda has created an Excel spreadsheet, available on this site, where you can input the required data at the tab "Diameter of rope". The spreadsheet then calculates the size of the ropes, blocks, etc. I have attached this spreadsheet for your info.
Hope this helps.
Trevor.

I have built a few models now but always struggle with the ratlines on the shrouds. Specifically, I use clove hitches to tie the ratlines onto the shrouds and I glue the knots but then when I trim the surplus thread from the sides I am either left with a nasty stump or if I cut too close the edge knots come undone. What am I doing wrong?

Secure the line with shellac or diluted white PVA and let iit dry. To cut, high quality barber shears or a good quality nail clipper works well to snip the excess.

It’s happened to most of us. Out of 1500 knots, you’re probably not going to be perfect every time. I try to make sure the knots on the ends are tight and put a dab of CA glue on the ends. I’ve heard of using beeswax on the lines to help them stay tight.
