Today an idea hit me in regards to measuring.
Years ago in carpentry a fellow taught me how to use what’s called a story stick. I won’t go into details as one can read about them on the internet.
In short it’s a length of wood that one can put tick marks on.
So I laid this on the plans and marked out the location of the gun ports. I then clamped it to one side of the model and now had the exact locations as per the plans. Accurate and easy.
No dividers, shaky hands or anything else.
If this is old well known info my apologies.

Excellent reminder for those who've forgotten in and great tip for those who are learning... and aren't we all?

Interesting coincidence: today I received delivery from TEMU of my order of these CNC-machined aluminum machinist's "set up blocks." (A better set than the few I have.) These are highly accurate, perfectly square blocks used for "comparison measurement" in a myriad of applications. Far more accurate and "repeatable" than eyeballing a rule. They are particularly useful for repeatedly setting accurate small increments and avoiding "cumulative" measurement errors.

Prices vary wildly. Who knows why?)

I have a blue version of that set I use them almost every time I set at the bench. I found them to be very helpful in saw set up and a number of other tasks. They can be stacked to get some odd sizes, gage thickness on precut stock and used for right angles. So, to steal and modify a line from a movie 90% of the time they work 100% of the time..... for me.
