Below is a picture from the Occre Endeavour instructions in which the longboat is stowed on two plain lengths of wood. This does not look good. I suspect however that in reality these might haven been reserve spars. Can anyone elaborate on this? Would these have been ready to install yardbeams, tops, topgallants, and if so which ones? Or just several plain lengths of wood in different sizes to be used according to the circumstances? What exact;ly should be there?

From The Arming and Fitting of English Ships of War page 233, by Brian Lavery, at least one boat could be carried on booms or spare topmasts laid along the centre line of the waist. These spare topmasts rested on gallows pretty much as you show on your model.
