Because i can't get upstairs to my workspace to go on working on the Granado ( waiting for a operation on my spine) i bought myself a small schip model.
Found it at Shicheng model and it's totally new to me. Never heard of this model shop before.

It's a sunken black pearl model.
In the box are the next items :
IMG_20231208_082426.jpgIMG_20231208_082451.jpgIMG_20231208_082639.jpgIMG_20231208_082814.jpgIMG_20231208_082913.jpg
And off course a few resin ornaments.
IMG_20231208_083116.jpg
It is a lot bigger than i expected actually. But still i guess it will be fun to make.

The description isn't much but the drawings are good.

If i look to the description i can't help it but i think it looks like the descriptions you get when you make a plastic model.
Still it's a wooden model.
1 wooden model i never have seen before.
So i will try to make a building log of it.
(after 12th December)

Interesting idea of such a diorama szene .....
I am looking forward to see the work on this model
And keep care with your spine.......

The wood is absolutely not of bad quality, even better than I initially expected.

So first i started by cutting out the frames and placing them on the 25x14.5 cm base plate.
IMG_20231208_101010.jpg
The stern frames need to be sanded at an angle before they can be placed.
IMG_20231208_105202.jpgIMG_20231208_105213.jpg

Small error in the description, frame 9 and frame 11 should be placed the other way around.
But this isn't a big problem.
IMG_20231213_091437.jpgIMG_20231213_091446.jpg

At the back of the cabin it needs to be sanded so that it runs nicely.
IMG_20231213_100334.jpg
After this I thought it would be smart to paint it in advance because you can look into it and I don't know if I can get to it later, so I have already painted a big part german gray.
IMG_20231213_111526.jpg

Next the description said i need to take the next parts on the model, a2..d1...d2....d3.
But d3 doesn't fit at all and before i made it fittable i first look again to the wooden parts.
Everything fits great so why doesn't fit d3.
When i looked at the wooden plates the provided with the model i saw on plate a a better piece.
D3 had to be A3.
IMG_20231213_140638.jpgIMG_20231213_135431.jpg
After the glue is dry i will paint this also German grey.

Next i started with making the framework for the gunports.
This is made out of a lot small fragile pieces.
IMG_20231214_095106.jpgIMG_20231214_095111.jpgIMG_20231214_100234.jpgIMG_20231214_103916.jpg
Some parts need to be sanded
Especially the ones who make contact with the basement plate.
IMG_20231214_104532.jpgIMG_20231214_105608.jpg
I first dry fit everything before i glue it all together.
And then i painted only the parts who are visible from the inside. Because i still don't know what you see or not see when the decks are placed.
IMG_20231214_113506.jpgIMG_20231214_113526.jpg
I have to go to the hospital today to get a needle in my spine (some pain treatment)
Really hope i can build further on this model tomorrow.
It is a funny thing to build actually.

Also i found a example on the seller's site of someone who built this diorama. It looks amazing and im thinking to try to make something like it.

First I thought it is an error in the kit, that the gunports are not vertical - but 2 seconds afterwards i remembered, that it is a sunken ship / wreck which is not "normal" ..... crossing the fingers for your intervention and hpe to see soon a further progress on this project Thumbsup

First I provided the back with the ready-made parts.
IMG_20231216_093929.jpg

The curve is easiest to make by first wetting the prefab part, the same with the 2 rear panels of the cabin.
IMG_20231216_093943.jpgIMG_20231216_112622.jpg

The planks to close the deck are small slats 70x3.5mm on a plate.
IMG_20231216_113240.jpg

I first painted this german gray on the bottom.
IMG_20231216_114453.jpg

After this I made 3 different sizes and started
placing them in different large orders.
IMG_20231217_093158.jpgIMG_20231217_095828.jpgIMG_20231217_095144.jpg

Unfortunately, it turns out that not all slats are the same width, but it immediately gives a certain atmosphere and antiquity to the deck.
I also immediately make some holes in the deck. IMG_20231219_092852.jpgIMG_20231219_092846.jpg
Once all the slats are in place, I sand it lightly and paint them palissander (rosewood)with some black paint mixed in.
IMG_20231219_095023.jpgIMG_20231219_095028.jpg

I installed the windows and frame in the front half of the cabin. Deliberately broke 1 window and damaged the side somewhat. Then painted and placed behind the last beam of the upper deck.
IMG_20231221_085803.jpg

Then i continued with the top deck. There needs to be a curve at the front, which is quite difficult with loose small slats. To get the right curve I used the bottom of the fence as a template. I place the slats underneath it and mark them with a pencil, once I have finished the deck I can cut the slats on the pencil line.
IMG_20231221_135127.jpg

After laying the deck, I drew the curve on it as mentioned.
IMG_20231222_090110.jpg

After this, it was cut off and then lightly sanded.
IMG_20231222_090451.jpg

Because it is a wreck, some damage has also been done here. At the front as well as on the deck.
IMG_20231222_101831.jpg

Painted the deck in the same color as the first deck and applied the sides and painted them as well.
IMG_20231222_105105.jpgIMG_20231222_135647.jpgIMG_20231222_135650.jpg

This is what he looks like now. I am very satisfied with the current result.
IMG_20231222_135656.jpg

Now it is time for me to start preparing the preparation for the Christmas meals and will continue after Christmas. I wish everyone a very happy and wonderful Christmas.

First I closed the sides.
IMG_20231227_110445.jpgIMG_20231227_122316.jpg
It needs some sanding here and there.

Then the cabin will be built, first I place the top and bottom.
IMG_20231228_120744.jpgIMG_20231229_091058.jpg

I paint this black on the inside.
IMG_20231229_091325.jpg

Also the back and sides where the cabin windows are cut out and painted black on the inside.
IMG_20231229_103343.jpgIMG_20231229_091829.jpg

Then place the rear window first and then the side windows on the model.
IMG_20231229_124908.jpg
IMG_20231229_131332.jpg

Drilled the holes for the masts and painted the entire outside a shade darker than the decks.
IMG_20240101_103721.jpgIMG_20240101_103729.jpgIMG_20240101_103734.jpg

The roof bulkheads were installed on the captain's cabin.
IMG_20240102_094133.jpg

And the planking for the roof was painted light German gray.
IMG_20240104_131632.jpg
IMG_20240104_131642.jpg

Placing this planking is very difficult.
So I decided to do it differently.

First made the entire roof with balsa wood.
IMG_20240103_112340.jpg

Then i paint this black.
IMG_20240103_140401.jpg
Next I glued the planking onto this.
IMG_20240104_131647.jpg

This took some time. But i immediately left pieces open for holes in some places.
IMG_20240105_135954.jpg

After the planking was done, I made the holes a little deeper for a more 3D idea and painted them black on the inside.
IMG_20240105_140517.jpg

Small pieces of planking were stuck into these holes to make it look even more collapsed.
IMG_20240105_151646.jpg

The railing consists of quite a few pieces.
IMG_20240107_113350.jpg
After these were cut out and sanded, I first glued the round ornaments, which consist of 2 pieces, together.
Unfortunately, only the rotation is drawn on 1 piece, this is the case with all 3 ornaments.
I have carefully tried to mill this in a bit so that there is more depth.
And painted them afterwards.
IMG_20240108_094604.jpgIMG_20240108_172417.jpg
The back needs to be bent a bit and from there both sides can be placed on it.
IMG_20240108_094500.jpg
Once these are in place, i painted it and placed the next layer on.
IMG_20240109_110401.jpgIMG_20240109_140822.jpgIMG_20240109_140826.jpg
I also immediately caused some damage here expressly.
IMG_20240109_142639.jpg
And then i painted this layers also.
IMG_20240109_152103.jpgIMG_20240109_152053.jpg

Next part are the whalers.
First i cut them out and paint them German grey.
IMG_20240110_102305.jpg
When they are dry i placed them on to the model on both sides.
IMG_20240110_104004.jpgIMG_20240110_104803.jpg
The last part to build for the outside so far is the holders for the climbing net's.
IMG_20240110_122424.jpg
Now everything can dry before i paint them also german grey and gleu them into their right place
