The Ships Cat

Welcome! This forum is a great place to learn about this fantastic hobby. I'm about 1/2 way through my Endurance. Fun ship to build.

Welcome aboard! If you are a first time builder, may I suggest you start out with a simpler project, to get your feet wet. There can be a steep learning curve involved and it can be frustrating. I started out with a simple dory and then a sailing pram. They were both great starter kits and taught me a lot!

This is a great starter set at a good price and it included tools you will need (you will want many others) Also look at the beginners corner forum, and the wonderful building logs our members have been so kind to show us.

We are all here to help!

New here, name's Phil, from Melbourne, and a 1st time builder. ☺️
Proud, and a very excited owner of the Endurance which arrived yesterday.
I have always held a monument of respect for Sir Earnest and his crew and so I'm determined to do them all justice.
Retired Engineer with a passion for detail and always looking for tips and tricks from the more advanced modellers so finding this group this morning is just perfect.
Looking forward to everything on offer ☺️

Hi Phil and welcome to the forums. I agree with Rob and starting off with the Model Shipways 3 combo starter kit. You will love it! Magic Mike

Hello and welcome aboard. I have the Endurance about half way completed. It's a nice kit without any problems. Occre has instructional videos on YouTube for the Endurance. I think there about 67 videos. They are great to help you along the way.

Thanks Bill ☺️
Just completed my first attempt at planking, that went OK, it was the trimming after where I made a few whoopsies
