Yes, but there is a minimum type of membership that is free. I am pretty sure it is still available.

the link did not work for me either

The Society for Nautical Research is a British society that conducts research and sponsors projects related to maritime history worldwide1. Founded in 1910, it is the world's premier maritime history society and publishes 'The Mariner's Mirror', the leading international journal of maritime history2https://www.freelancer.com/projects/3d-modelling/realistic-figure-modeling-for-printing?sb=t

the FREE membership gives you access to the forum maybe only the forum

Sorry for the poor link folks. I have no idea what I was thinking posting a link to my email. Senior moment to be sure on my part.
Thank you for posting the information Dave, very much appreciate the save! :)

I have just become aware of the site because of this post. I have been taking some time today looking through the site. It appears to be a very interesting and worthy site. They are the world's oldest society dedicated to the study and preservation of maritime heritage. Also, I did notice that their list of Fellows has quite a few notable model ship building authors. The list includes Brian Lavery, Philip Reed, Rif Winfield and Alister Roach.
