New kit UNICORN MODELS: HMS WOLF 1758: 1:48 SLOOP OF WAR

good luck with your new project my friend Heinrich, I will keep following with great curiosity :) Thumbsup
This is not my new project, my friend. I have just posted my new project in my build log. Thank you for the kind words.

Hi Bob. Please scroll up to my earlier posting. starting with:

Hi Uwe. I have managed to unearth some information about the ship. One has to be careful not to confuse this model with the 1742 HMS Wolfe - even though they both belong to the Snow-Class of sloops.

The 1759 does not refer to the launch date - that was in 1754; but to her configuration in 1759 during the bombardment of Le Havre.

Thank you, for some reason my old windows 7 is keeping that page hidden! All the ships in the dialogue seem to be strikingly similar, presumably from the same architect? I haven't checked that with NMM.
But there is that planking pattern!!!

This ship is a Criuizer class ship ,many exists in the NMM with many different name ,same like the Russian Izmael (designed by English )

There are several drawings existing from the class

Cruizer (1752) [alternative spelling: Cruiser]

Scale: 1:48. Plan showing a partially completed inboard profile illustration the mast dispositions for Cruizer (1752), an 8-gun, snow-rigged Sloop. A mizzen mast was added at Sheerness Dockyard per Navy Board Warrant dated 29 November 1753, which meant that the Cruizer was now a ship-rigged sloop.

Excellent information, Uwe. You almost made me reconsider what to build next! :) Seriously though, thank you for this. For those who may consider building her this will be valuable information which all adds up to her history. A 27-year naval career before being sold, is not to be scoffed at!

Hello Heinrich @Heinrich
I came across your report while searching for and researching the HMS Wolf. Almost 3 years ago I bought the books on the HMS Speedwell from Sea Watch Books. It is also part of the Cruizer class, there are differences in the masts and rigging. The so-called snow rigging. When my Le Rochefort and La Palme projects are finished I will start with the HMS Wolf (at least that's the plan).

Why won't it be the Speedwell? Well, there are two reasons: Wolf is my surname and I am interested in the snow rigging. It will be a challenge because the masts are in a different position to those on the Speedwell.

I simply have to love a post like this, Tobias! HMS Wolf is the perfect ship to go with your surname. I am sure that measured against what you have already accomplished, the repositioning of the masts, will be a walk in the park for you!

Thank you Heinrich for your trust in me. Greg Herbert told me about the HMS Wolf/Speedwell that I should buy Ron McCarthy's book. It describes the snow rigging. While looking for more plans, I came across the Shipyard plans and bought them for 42 British pounds on eBay. I am very confident that I will manage it.

It is so good to have such excellent and comprehensive available prior to the build. I must say, the snow rigging is most interesting - I wonder if Barentsz knew anything about that! With such clear objectives, this build will be another masterpiece, Tobias!

(Speed)Well, that would be very interesting: Mr. T. Wolf building the HMS Wolf.:) But don’t hurry with the two others …….
Regards, Peter

Do not buy from Unicorn models. I needed replacement parts and I haven’t heard back from the seller. They’ve gone dark. I even offered to pay for the pieces, shipping, and time the seller would spend to replace the parts, but no response. This model is $1000 and I’m completely blocked. I implore people NOT to purchase this kit. If you mess up you will never get a replacement. Stick with UK models that have customer service and can replace parts.

May I ask if the parts of HMS Wolf are damaged?
