I've seen several pictures of the gun port doors onboard the Conny. Some are closed with the cannon sticking out, some are completely open with the cannon, or some have the bottom door closed and the top open. Is this a matter of preference or should they be in a specific configuration?
Also, does anyone know how often or if Model Expo has evaluated the current USS Constitution kit for better and/or correct sized wood strips, and the possibility of providing a false deck for the build?
After reading some of the complaints, I think they're valid and these two pieces I mentioned, I think would make a difference in improving the experience of the build overall. Having a false deck in my opinion would make a huge difference when working on the deck, especially if you've faired the hull properly. This may make the laser cut for the bulkheads slightly different to compensate for the thickness of the false deck.
Anyway, I've encountered similar issues during my build. Although my build appears to be going well and manageable, in that I have been able to compensate or tweak, or work around some minor issues, the inconsistencies in the wood strip sizes and quantities and not having a false deck to work with could be solved easily. I understand that something like this may be driven by demand for choosing and purchasing the actual Constitution kit MS2040. If demand is low, then it probably does not become a priority. Maybe no one has really approached Model Expo, or there is not enough complaints...I don't know.
