Just completed this Model Shipways Essex (the old Yellow Box kit). This 1:96 scale model is 31” long by 22” tall and 10.5” wide. The kit was purchased in 1984 and I worked on it for a while before getting frustrated with the build and put it on a shelf in my workshop where it collected dust for more than 35 years. I restarted this project in August of 2025. I supplemented the kit with gratings, stanchions, blocks and deadeyes from ModelExpo and scale rope from Ropes of Scale. My son-in-law is building a beautiful walnut case for it.
