Hi Everybody!
I recently repainted the black upper part of hull with 'Vallejo Model Color Acrylic' which went on beautifully with a soft, red wissel hair brush.

The scarlet red part of my hull was painted with 'Revell' satin enamel and looks good. Alas, my black 'Revell' SM 302 had some bad quality issues so I sanded down the black and tried 'Vallejo' this time. I have never yet painted a plastic model with acrylic paint before and was thrilled.

But this black paint is very matt and doesn't match my scarlet red down below.

Does 'Vallejo' make an acrylic satin clear coat for this purpose (or from any other brand)?

Or should I buy 'Revell Aqua Color black paint which also comes in satin finish anyway?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Humbrol make a satin acrylic lacquer and I have had good results with it.
Thanks! I always liked using Humbrol products, alas I don't have a local or mail oder dealer for them here at present in Germany.

I was also considering 'Vallejo' 726519 acrylic varnish or perhaps some of the same by "Hobby Line".

Then I discovered my local home and garden center has 'Kreul' acrylics in their art department. And I also found out the German paint factory Kreul' also manufactures "Hobby Line" in fact my cash register receipt had "Hobby Line" printed next to the price.

Good, that saved me shipping costs; the WX is sunny and pleasant for 5° Celcius plus the 300 meter stroll there and back also did me some good.

But I'll test it first on a piece of discarded plastic sprue left over from the same kit to play things safe.

It's suppose to go on milky looking but then dry clear and water proof.
Hopefully so! After all I don't want her looking like photos of my father's ship in the Aleutians!

vallejo do the polyurethane satin varnish #26.652 which I have used successfully but always check compatibility. I once used plastikote acrylic satin lacquer on an acrylic paint and it was a very effective paint stripper!

I tested my 'Kreul - Hobby Line' water based, clear acrylic varnish on a plastic scrap from my trawler kit which I painted with black 'Vallejo Model Color' acrylic and it's all OK. I could even dilute it water.
