as some have ask here are all my 6 ships pics done 30 years ago, victory that i am making is new and ongoing, don`t be to hard on me, i didn`t have plans, just a few pics to go to at the time, as u will see stuff not acurite, but its all scratch built, a few bought fittings, victory is about 80% scratch built and 3d printed the rest, but its almost as hard to just make the darn pieces sometimes. 104 canons, yep, that is 3d printed
sovereign of the sea clipper ship
Sovereign of the Seas was a clipper ship built in 1852.
It was notable for setting the world record for the fastest sailing ship, i had a plan for it, only ship i ever did with a plan, it was done under a year, fastest built because of the plan
wantabe soleil brilliant,
built over a years time and refit a few times, hull, back, etc
as i had 1 pic to look at and built it, first ship i made, using a scroll saw, knife, scissors, that it lol, now i`m all set up, i don`t know what ship i base it off and turn it into a soleil royal, lost the pic and search for it for like forever, 30 years later still haven`t found that ship lol. that one is almost all oak, yep last time i`m working with oak, as the hull was full of glue and said ok, time to paint it, it had 3 refit and prob will have 1 more, now that i see all my mistakes it annoyes me, if u see that ship let me know, its prob from a 16 century ship
Bluenose
was a fishing and racing gaff rig schooner built in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada, undefeated ship, super fast and prob the best crew, made 2 things work great
this was done with a few pics, under a year to make, handmade, mostly, but my jaw drop when i started to calculate how big the sails were going to be i was like omg, people find it weird i only use a few tools to make all past ships, i don`t, still mostly sculpt everything, that i can`t buy andf that is prob everything lol,, now i bought stuff to start over modeling
and said i must be crazy to startagain with a big ship like this, oh well, not going anywhere, i just do it. never an end date as u will stop the next day lol
Titanic,
scratch built almost everything, a lot of swearing on that ship 0o, took 1500 hrs or more i stop counting after a bit, under 2 years , but had time to built it at the time,
my second ship, i was getting better , had a book of pics to scale down, ask the wife to make a scale for me and work from there, i almost never mesure stuff, only when its needed
prob u guys do the same, after a bit u got the eyes for it i guest, that ship hull was not detail as u see on the pic, that ship was made as a rc, had added all engine, etc and had a remote control, everything was working, only thing that is missing is to ballast it and good to go, but then i said i need a lake or a pool, nothing close by, so i never did. still sits in dry dock, poor thing
USS enterprise ww2 aircraft carrier,
when i got to fittings parts and needed like 2000 pieces i was like oh no not another titanic, that ship broke me and stop making ships
now 30 years later i got a 3d printer, god amazing gift for modelers, still work to get it prep, etc, but i got blender, that i learn in 1 hr, as i had used other hard 3d prog to make 3d models for games, i prob made over 10 k pieces, over a time of 15 years, then stop, as it was getting to be a full time job and not fun anymore, so i won`t be buying fittings anymore, as i design everything and 3d print it, i never sold anything, prob could of made a fortune, i gave everything free.
HMS Victory,
scratch built with 3d printer, yay, finally got back into modeling ships, when i stop 30 years ago internet, pc gaming was just getting started and was like oh i can built in the computer, as i didn`t have much time, 3d max, etc prob , then blender for my ships fitting, etc for the 3d printer
this ship is going to get a refit, as i 3d printed the officers on that super nice site to make miniature crew for dirt cheap, if u got a 3d printer, u don`t , buy one right away, took me under a hr to print stuff, that including installing it, stuff on it is off, not acurite, so the crew told me my canons was 2 mm to big and the furniture also, so have to remake all of the top canons, etc that is of scaled, darn thing , i can see why u make a model of a crew first lol, but there all 3 d printed, so prob under a week to fixe it all, i do work fast, even making models people were saying i was a machine to make that much stuff lol,
if there is any ships u want to see more pics let me know, i made and design that trophy, it wasn`t to bad, took 1 day, now where the heck can i find 3d figurehead , that would save me time, i prob will end up design and 3d print it, and also that guy in the back, no where to find a 3d model, same will prob have to do it
