Viking ship kit

My model has final departed the Ukraine after a journey of thought, design, production with love and a final packaging to be sent part way across the world to its final place of acceptance and assembly. Here is part of the building team though not part of the kits.

Congrats on your Oseberg being shipped! I know the excitement you're feeling, I was the same way when I ordered mine last year and it finally shipped.

It's a wonderful kit, I've enjoyed building it so far...although I haven't touched it for a month or so, life gets in the way sometimes.

There are several build logs of the Oseberg here on SoS, and everyone is eager to help with hints and tips. My biggest suggestion would be to watch Pavel's build videos, they really help fill in the gaps from the instructions.

Thanks for feedback Steve. I'm looking for as much information as possible on the Oseberg. The are beautiful and it's brought me towards the history of the Vikings and those times. Truly incredible as is the Internet to aid and provide to much information. I've looked around a lot on SOS and the build logs are most intetesting. I've also downloaded Pavel's videos and watched them at half speed. It's a long time since my last model of any sort and I truly want to do the Oseberg justice.

Hi Ashley,

It sounds like we're in the same boat (pun intended) ;) I hadn't built any models in close to 30 years, I saw Pavel's Oseberg kit and I just had to have it.

Good luck with your build, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I have!

The new blocks for the "Oseberg" — yes, they’re not made of wood, but they actually look more “wooden” than many that are made of real wood...)

Hi Pavel,

I assume these are resin parts. Do they come weathered like in the pics? If not, did you use your stain kit to achieve these results, or do you recommend something else?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Yes, these are 3D-printed resin blocks, and the finish you see in the photos was done using the same wood stains we offer in our store. The staining process is very simple and takes just a few minutes — nothing complicated at all

In fact, I’m planning to film a short video tutorial on weathering blocks in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Morning Pavel.
Yes, these are a better example than the fb pics. May I assume you're very busy this morning designing a revenue cutter???ROTF
Seriously....have you done a video detailing your painting technique? I'm sure you must have but I haven't run accross one.
Cheers, Bob
