Hallo and welcome Alan,Hi Everyone
Thanks for the greeting. I've been enjoying reading build logs on this site and learning a lot. I've been making wooden ships models for about three years and am trying hard to get beyond the gluey mess stage. There has been a lot of helpful information here that is making me better. Things move slow at present; work gets in the way too much but I'm hoping for that to change next year.
I'm in the middle of the Sergal xebec kit at present which is dreadful so I'm making it up as I go along with the help of what I read here to make a better model.
I like the diversity of kits being made on this site and the general non-partisan friendliness. Hopefully I'll feel brave enough to try a build log soon.
Have a great day
Alan
Thanks zoly99sask,I am glad to be able to join this forum.
Thank you very much!! Began model ship building over 60 years ago under my father's tutelage in the midwest. After careers both in the Navy and Law Enforcement, I'm now long retired in the small boat-building village of East Boothbay, ME. Admiral MacMillan's arctic exploration schooner "Bowdoin" was built in what is now my 'backyard.' I'm in the process of rehabbing a basement workshop, and have several model ship projects ready to go. I've built a number of both RC scale and wooden sailing ships (static.) I'll soon post photos of models; building and built.
