Looking good. I attempted to build the Wasa as my first model about 38 years ago, and it was a disaster.
I hear you not an easy ship. I have done or finished a few my farther started with the jyland being one of them. The hardest part I find of this ship is the stern and is the reason I did not proceed with it. I wanted to wait till I had the ability to do it.

Tonight's fun the round pieces at the stern and the part I was not looking forward to. I have spent many hours going over instructions for this part and the first ones went well. As long as you take your time and go slow it works out. Just some further work and will be good to go. Just 4 more to go.20210325_190002.jpg20210325_193337.jpg20210325_191618.jpg20210325_193411.jpg

Two more cut and sanded down two more to go. Then plank the area and fine tune the pieces not sure what I want to do either. I will either put planks around outside or sandpaper or file for look of back rounded areas. As they are not round more octagon in look.20210326_193753.jpg20210326_193759.jpg20210326_193813.jpg

Also any suggestions on how others have done these areas photos would be appreciated. Looking for the round stern areas shown.

Remember that the colors of Vasa is very different from the kit instructions. The Vasa museum has done a lot of investigations of the color pigments left on the ship.

Oh I am more than aware of that fact now thanks. I'm lucky it look me so many years to work on it again that I never started painting. I see that even the never kit still shows the original colors too.

Bit more work done on stern today filled in back area did another of the round areas.
I also played with these bright cannons to see how to make more like a cannon. I think I came across something from doing staindglass. I first start by tinning them them add the rod then use black patina then wax them to make then a more metal bronze look. I like the outcome. Also tinned the wheels and trying copper tape tinned for the metal areas of the guns.20210328_150745.jpg20210328_170946.jpg20210328_170956.jpg

Few days off back at it trying to figure the stern out and build it up. The way to do the smaller area seems to be build it up sand and then plank when formed. As you can see from the larger area done. I full the smaller area to get the form of area then plank it.20210331_195205.jpg
