What do you guys use for weights?

I've had good luck with a piece of wood sized to cover the area you want to put pressure on. Then a dumbbell or barbell plate(s) on top of the piece of wood. Plates come in a wide variety of weights.

Drain the bottles (!) and fill with coins. You will enjoy the liquid contents, have heavier (and adjustable) weights and can spend the coins when finished. A 12 ounce bottle filled with quarters weighs ~4 pounds. Sadly, your 18 yo Johnny Walker has such a narrow neck.

I'm laying deck planking and in order to keep it flat on the deck as I glue it I am using weights to hold it down, and pushpins to keep it snug against the other planks. I needed something with high weight and low footprint to be able to focus as much of the weight as possible on the planks that are getting glued, and well, this is the best I could come up with.

They're a bit expensive as far as weights go and marginally fragile, so I'd kinda prefer to use something else, but I am not sure what. I found some 500g and 1kg calibration weights online, but they are a tad too pricey to get more than one or two of them. So I am hoping you guys found something good I can - The Wife

I have been using Scuba weight pouches in .5, 1, 2, and 3 pound sizes filled with stainless steel shot. They conform to the surface to distribute the weight evenly.

I used my last wife for a while, then again, your weights might be a little cheaper than my last adventure. What time is cocktail hour? I will take the bus.
