I called and left a message for Byrnes Machines about buying a table saw. No answer. Is there another saw equal with that manufacturer? BTW, I ordered Hayling Hoy by Antscherel which Seawatch recommeded as a good to place to start a scratch built craft.

Yes, from all reports, Donna will get back to you by phone. There is no other saw that even begins to approach the quality and performance of the Byrnes saw. (The same goes for the thickness and disk sander, as well.) I believe this is a universal assessment at this point. There are (or were) saws that others say they found suitable for the job, but I've yet to head anybody say they were better than a Byrnes.

Byrnes. Just Byrnes. Be patient, they will get to you.
I can wait. Now that we know the cancer in my handicapped son's brain cannot be removed its time to spend some time in the future shop. I'm gonna set it up with folding tables first to get the configuration right. Then build. To keep me busy I ordered Seawatch Hayling Hoy as starter for a scratch build'

What do you intend to use as your raw material? If you intend to buy a package of milled wood a Byrnes Saw s a well made capable tool.

If on the other hand you intend to buy 1” (nominal) or heavier hardwood lumber, then as Y.T. suggests, I would start with an ordinary 8” or 10” table saw. Today there are dozens of blades designed for different tasks available to fit these saws. With a hollow ground blade one of these saws will do a remarkable job and will cut up wood that is too heavy for the much smaller Byrnes saw.

A key determinant for a table saw is its fence. It must be parallel to the blade and if not it needs to be capable of adjustment. The Byrnes saw has a fence clamped at both ends of the table and is easily adjusted.

I have both saws. My most used one is my 10” Delta Contractors Saw.

I am not able to have a larger table saw as I live in condo. But what about any cheap table saw as 8 inch they have in Home Depot, would not they be comparable to Byrnes by performance?
I will be checking out all the sources before I buy. Now I want need feedback from modelers having experience with this tool.

Setting the quality argument aside, some time ago I got the MicroMark table saw and it has done remarkably well for my modest kit builds (mostly making 1/16th planking strips). I did find that I had to be very precise in aligning the fence to the blade for square…a lot of measuring and precise adjustments got it right and the fence has stayed in place through several jobs. I matched the saw to my limited needs and it has worked very well. I have found that if you match a product to your expected usage you may not really need the best quality.

just about everyone uses their phone as a camera but the files are very low resolution 72dpi
i have a Nikon coolpix 8700 you can look at any of my builds and see the images they are all from the Nikon.
There isn't much demand for a camera type cameras so you can find Nikons on Ebay for as low as $30.00

I can wait. My son starts cancer infusion therapy early July and that will keep me busy. As of today I am using hard surface folding tables to organize my model shop.

For taking pictures of our model builds, most of us just use the camera on our phones. It's almost always convenient. Same goes for family pictures. Todays phone cameras are nothing short of amazing. :)
I'm still unpacking the hpuse and busy with my son's cancer but I did find a Fujifilm Zoom 90S. Would that work?

it would work, but it is a camera that requires film.
If you get a digital camera, you won't need to worry about buying film and them worry about getting the film developed.

THANX. I've set my mind to a digital one. I'm close enough, 30-45 minutes, to larger stores where I can pick folks brains-politely.

Byrnes. I paid 1300 dollars to have mine shipped to the UK. Worth every penny.

I am happy with my Proxxon FET. The table height can be varied and the blade tilted without having to pay for add-on extras. Fine adjustment of the fence is easy.
