Why are there (almost) no female ship modellers?

Yes - my father made also several doll houses - he loved it
I think he used partially the kits from mini-mundus

I think a lot comes down to the end goal and the 'why' of having a creative hobby. This can be a feeling of accomplishment that you like to share with others, or to make others happy.
I love to put my finished boats on display at the house, or at our holiday house by the sea. I usually build an acrylic dust cover, & people love the models on display, which creates a sense of achievement.
I guess the same can be said for women who have a hobby. My 28-year-old daughter loves to knit, and it is very rewarding for her to be able to wear and show what she has created; just like I like to show my finished boats. She also knits garments that she then gives away as a present. So her work actually makes others happy.
As for dollhouses, if I would have a granddaughter, I would happily jump onto a project to build a dollhouse that would most probably be hyper detailed. Same like how I also used to build wooden play-fortresses for my son to play with his toy soldiers. It turned into a full medieval village eventually, which I still have for the day that I may be blessed with a grandson, or daughter for that matter.
