I am sure most of the members know the reason of using women figureheads for sailing ships. I didn't knew it until now.
A very common belief among the sailors in the earlier times was ,a woman brings bad luck if she is aboard during sailing. But a barechested woman was said to calm the seas.
That's why ships'figureheads were barechested.
