YQ Bluenose Ted R

I stained the non-painted parts with a reddish (cherry-colored) stain. This for the most part evened-out the differences in the wood colors.
Thank you for the advice. Im going to temp place.the overlaying parts and.reconsider

Yup Ted I forgot about the veneer overlay which will indeed cover most of what you are concerned about. Could be why YQ wasn't concerned either. Do be sure to maintain the tightest joinery you can, you will be amazed at what you have to deal with if you don't.
Thank you Daniel20.. Dis it appear from my photos that the joints are too loose?

For the most part they all look fairly tight, just in a couple locations I can see small gaps. At this point I think you're ok, I just made the point because I got sloppy, and it caused me trouble and I don't want you to have to deal with those kinds of problems.

Thanks, will treat each point as the most important.

Here's frame 1 ready for installation and final fairing once installed. Is it a mistake to not completely bevel out to the line prior to installing? I've seen logs doing it both ways and don't want to over sand

You can pre-sand close to the laser line.
It’s ok to do the last sanding after building the complete hull, inclusively the inside beams. Them you can see and feel the flow of the outside hull. Sanding the inside before the inside bearing beams. But still with all the frames and keel in the jig.
But first only dry-fit the frames till you have made all of them.

Thank you Peter. I'm reading well ahead of progress. Also following Paul Lester on YouTube and using Heinrich's and your builds for additional details. Btw Heinrich said he thought the wood "wasn't right", he will look into replacement this weekend.

Saw the last post on your Bluenose. This is probably one of the most beautiful models I have ever seen. And I've been to the Virginia Maritime Museum and the Smithsonian

I will have a proper look at this over the weekend when I have more time. Those parts do NOT look right.
Would it be possible to order replacement parts for frames 1-8. I think I really have the technique down pat now. But the model will be nicer if I replace the frames made while I worked through my learning curve.

Now that you mention it. I thought it was water staining but it could also be mold or spalting..

One of the problems I'm having is a char stripe at the glue seams of the frames. I thought I had read to not sand the char prior to glueing. Is this wrong? Should I sand first. I'm afraid of over sanding . Something else I read somewhere.17093148743604147868410332969271.jpg
