I finished the gunwale and finally applied the first layer of tung oil to the decks. But I was probably wrong about the deck coating. I should have ordered maple planks for her, not a pear. It does not darken as much under the coating, remains light and has a more uniform texture. Well, I'll be smarter next time.

I hope my assembly experience will help the builders of this kit to some extent. I have specified some dimensions in my posts above. But this, of course, is far from the last resort, it is still worthwhile for the modeler himself to check everything several times according to his model.

I made a sailboat rudder. I used to make the brass blackening liquid myself, but my wife grumbled that I smelled like ammonia for three days afterwards))). This time I bought a ready-made tool. It doesn't smell like ammonia, brass blackens well, but unfortunately it doesn't want to blacken the brass wire, of which I have a whole coil, for some unknown reason.

I started working on the latrine. Here I also decided not to cover it with paint, but to paste it with mahogany veneer. I removed the excess inside with wood carvings. Designed the window frames. It's funny, but I've been using this anvil and yews for almost 50 years now. Back in 1976, when I turned 12, my father gave me a small set of locksmith and carpentry tools for modeling. He managed to teach me a lot, but alas, he became seriously ill and died too soon when he was only 51 years old. I am already 62 years old, but I still miss him, His hands invisibly build my sailboats with me.
